Learned helplessness

If someone stops fighting because he has no prospect of success, psychologists call this ‘learned helplessness’.

Many people ask themselves: Why should I do something if this does not change anything?

“Why should I buy green electricity? Why should I use public transport ? Why should I buy organic products? This does not change anything !”

THAT is ‘learned helplessness’.

Some people seem to be grateful for the media’s suggestions that they can not change anything.
Then at least someone gives them the reason not to have to do anything.

Poor, “helpless” people …
