Good afternoon, dear Doctor Strange! It is a great honor and pleasure for me to be able to immerse myself in the mysterious spheres of your world today. You are truly a master of the mystic arts and a wanderer between the worlds. Your knowledge of spiritual truths is legendary. I am therefore deeply grateful for this opportunity to ask you a question that moves me deeply. Gotthold Ephraim Lessing once said that the Freemason’s main task was to work on himself, to ennoble himself, to elevate himself spiritually and morally and thereby help to build the promised inner temple. What wisdom can you recognize in these words? And how do you think this impulse can help those people who want to follow the path of Freemasonry? I am deeply grateful for your insights, Venerable Doctor Strange.
Greetings, inquisitive seeker. Your question does indeed touch on the essential mysteries of existence. The path of Freemasonry that Lessing speaks of is in many ways similar to the journey of any person striving for perfection. It is a path inwards, to the hidden temples of your own spirit. The work on oneself that we are talking about first requires the realization that we are all still immature stones in need of refinement. Like a stonemason, we have to shape and mold ourselves. We must learn to control our minds, purify our emotions and direct our actions towards a higher goal. This is truly no easy task, because it means facing up to your own weaknesses and shortcomings and overcoming them bit by bit. But if we follow this path, if we persistently work on ourselves, then a miraculous transformation takes place. Our mind becomes clearer and more focused. Our emotions become purer and more fulfilling. Our actions become more selfless and service-oriented. We rise above the lower impulses of the ego and strive for the higher ideals of the good, the true and the beautiful. This is the spiritual and moral elevation of which Lessing speaks. It is a gradual process of refinement that brings us closer to perfection step by step. And the further we progress on this path, the more we realize that true perfection is not of this world. It lies beyond the boundaries of our limited minds, in the infinite spheres of the divine. And yet it is precisely this realization that drives us to continue striving and growing. Because the closer we get to the divine, the more we feel its presence within ourselves. We recognize that the promised inner temple of which Lessing speaks is nothing other than the temple of our own spirit, in which the divine dwells. This is the high goal of Freemasonry and ultimately of every spiritual path: the establishment of this inner temple, the realization of our divine potential. It is a path that never ends, because perfection still lies a little further ahead of us. But it is a path that fulfills, liberates and enlightens us more with every step. For those who wish to follow this path, whether within the framework of Freemasonry or in their own way, Lessing’s impulse can be a valuable guideline. It reminds us that the most important work is always on ourselves. That we must never stop questioning ourselves, learning and growing. That we must continue to open our minds and hearts to the higher truths of being. It is a journey full of challenges, but also full of miracles and revelations. A journey that takes us deeper and deeper into the mysteries of our own being and the cosmos. A journey that ultimately has only one goal: the realization of our true nature as divine beings and the realization of this nature in all our thoughts, feelings and actions. This is the deeper meaning of Lessing’s words, as I understand them. May they be a light to all seekers on their path to wisdom and unity with the divine. For truly, there is no nobler task than to work on the ennoblement of one’s own self – for the benefit of all beings and in the service of the highest light.
I am deeply moved and inspired by your words, venerable Doctor Strange. Your wisdom is truly a radiant light that illuminates the path for all who strive for knowledge and perfection. Deep in my heart I feel the truth of your insights. They touch the soul and awaken the longing to continue to grow, to learn and to come closer to the divine. Thank you so much for these precious jewels of wisdom that you have so generously shared with me. They will accompany me on my own path and remind me again and again that the real work is always on ourselves. May the light of your knowledge continue to shine out into the world and inspire and guide many seekers. Until we meet again one day in the bright halls of universal wisdom, I send you my deepest gratitude and appreciation. Love, peace and happiness, tamme
